Site-specific installation. All materials are gathered and recycled on-site. The printed winds symbolize all kinds of insects that appeared in the area during the time the piece was created.

This piece reflects on the first chapter of Zhuangzi about the relative perspective of life spans in the infinite time of all matters, and how that makes the answers to individual life inconceivable within the mass of the universe.

The philosophy also responds to the main purport of Diamond Sūtra.

“Like a tiny drop of dew, or a bubble floating in a stream;
Like a flash of lightning in a summer cloud,
Or a flickering lamp, an illusion, a phantom, or a dream.”

“So is all conditioned existence to be seen.”

  • "Small knowledge is not comparable to great knowledge, and a short life-spend is not comparable to a long life-spend. How can we know this to be so? Morning mushrooms do not know the solstices, cicadas do not know the seasons. These are examples of youth. In the south of Chu, there are ancient trees that consider five hundred years as spring and five hundred years as autumn."
  • Zhuangzi, Transcendental Bliss
